Overview

One glance at the redesigned 2017 Mazda CX-5's bold new exterior is enough to know that it's been designed to balance driving pleasure and passenger comfort. This "refined toughness" is the beginning of a movement from Mazda to create driver-centric vehicles that operate in harmony with human sensibilities.

Inside, the new Mazda CX-5 has a quieter cabin which translates to a more comfortable driving experience for all occupants. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is the first Mazda model to adopt a two-step reclining rear seat for improved comfort and usability. Available rear seat heaters and new air conditioning vents mounted on the rear of the floor console add even more comfort.

As for advanced tech features, the Multi-Information Display has a new high-resolution 4.6-inch liquid crystal display and an available Active Driving Display that projects information from the available navigation system on the windshield—and that’s just the beginning. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is available in three trim levels starting from $24,045.*

The Perfect Ride for…

SUV drivers who don’t want to choose between a harmonious driving experience and versatility. The new Mazda CX-5 delivers on all fronts, boasting the versatility and comfort of the larger Mazda CX-9 with a more compact profile that elevates its handling and responsiveness. Mazda also listened to what customers really want in an SUV, incorporating a premium interior and advanced features in an absolutely gorgeous package. And clearly, we're not the only ones that love it—Parents Magazine and Edmunds.com recently named the 2017 Mazda CX-5 Best Midsize Crossover in their list of "10 Best Family Cars of 2017."

Drive & Handling

Available in a variety of packages, there's a version of the Mazda CX-5 for every driver. Expect to see 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque thanks to the crossover's standard SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine. The Mazda CX-5 gets an EPA-estimated 31 highway mpg and 24 city mpg on FWD models.**

SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring control is a new technology that comes standard on all 2017 Mazda CX-5 models. When cornering, the system adjusts power delivery and shifts weight for a smoother drive—no driver input needed.

The new Mazda CX-5 is also available with i-ACTIV AWD® technology. This intelligent system predicts when all-wheel drive might be needed by monitoring factors such as outside temperature, throttle input, braking patterns, and more. The system then directs torque where it’s most needed to preemptively curb traction loss, all without missing a beat. Expect an estimated 29 highway mpg and 23 city mpg on AWD models.**

Key Features

MAZDA CONNECT™ Infotainment

Stay connected on the go with the MAZDA CONNECT™ Infotainment System, which comes with voice command; Pandora®, Aha™, and Stitcher™ internet radio integration; Multifunction Commander Control; and more. Bluetooth® hands-free phone and audio capability and HD Radio™ are also available.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control

The new Mazda CX-5 is available with a number of driver-assistive features, including Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go technology. Within a set speed range, this feature will help maintain a safe following distance in traffic by first alerting you when your vehicle is approaching too quickly and then automatically stopping if the vehicle in front of you stops. The Mazda CX-5 will then stay in a standing start until you resume driving.

Alternative Options

The bigger sibling of the Mazda CX-5, the Mazda CX-9 was redesigned for the 2016 model year. The new generation incorporates the styling, engineering, and technology elements that have worked so well on other recent Mazda models into an eminently practical package. For the sportiest crossover experience in the Mazda lineup, check out the 2017 Mazda CX-3. The diminutive crossover debuted last year to critical acclaim and is sure to win you over with its dynamic handling, excellent fuel economy, and all-around high-quality interior.
