Let the Cherokee be your guide

The Jeep® brand is famous for its off-road prowess but what if you want something more suited to your daily grind? Enter the Jeep Cherokee, a comfortable and stylish compact SUV that is ready to deliver the goods on-road, and is more than happy to play in the mud and get down and dirty when called upon.

For 2017, the Cherokee gains HID headlights on all but the Sport trim while the Trailhawk gains a number of new standard features like ventilated Nappa leather seats and a heated steering wheel. This is also the first full year for the new top-shelf Overland trim, which was introduced last year.

Performanceal

Powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, the Cherokee combines fuel economy with performance, giving drivers a range of approximately 500 miles per tank. With estimated 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway,* this SUV is economical to drive.

Unlike many other comparable vehicles, the Jeep Cherokee comes with a V6 option, giving added horsepower and torque to a vehicle that is comfortable on and off the road. The 3.2-liter V6 engine delivers a whopping 271 hp compared to the 184 hp available with the four-cylinder version.

The 9-speed automatic transmission designed by ZF specifically for the Cherokee improves fuel economy and performance, so the V6 model outperforms some of its four-cylinder competition.

What really sets the Cherokee apart is its Selec-Terrain® system. Combining 12 different car systems, this traction control system helps the Cherokee navigate even the most touch-and-go surfaces. Manually control traction settings for snow, sport, sand/mud and rock, or select auto and let the Selec-Terrain® system take over.

All versions of the Cherokee come with standard options that set it apart, including Hill Assist, front and rear independent suspensions, electronic stability control and electric power steering. Upgraded options add on 4-wheel drive for a true off-road experience, skid plates, and an increased ride height.

Features

Starting at an affordable $23,595,** the Jeep Cherokee is a compact crossover SUV that emphasizes luxury on the inside while projecting the rugged capability Jeep models are famous for on the outside. It's available in five main trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, Limited, and Overland.

Design

The 2017 Jeep® Cherokee bears no resemblance to the boxes of the past, with a mid-size body that is surprisingly roomy on the inside.

The Cherokee looks more like a car and a lot less like a Jeep, but there are plenty of details, like its iconic seven-slot grille, that pay homage to the brand's historic identity.

There's plenty to appreciate inside, too. The cabin of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee has a quality look and feel, especially on upper trim levels. The available Uconnect® 8.4-inch touchscreen is satisfying to use thanks to easy-to-navigate menus, large virtual buttons, and an accompanying knob that makes whipping through long lists a breeze.

There will come a time when you'll need to transport an item or two and when that time comes, you'll be happy you drive a Cherokee. Cargo capacity is solid with 24.6 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 54.9 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks folded down.

Safety

Driving a Jeep is all about enjoying unparalleled confidence both on and off-road. Standard safety equipment on all 2017 Jeep Cherokees includes antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front- and rear-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and front knee airbags.
